UPN is in an odd place, trying again to carve a niche for itself. That being said, they've got three new shows: one drama and two comedies. (They own part of two of the shows.) They made a good decision in keeping the low-rated, but critically acclaimed "Veronica Mars" and are getting much more mileage out of "America's Next Top Model."They've sort of added a new night: Friday. They moved "Smackdown" to the previously not-programmed night, yet they are still showing a regularly skedded encore on Tuesday.
Their Monday comedy block is a poor alternative to CBS'. We'll see how the new UPN Thursday fares with "...Chris" in leadoff.
"Sex, Love & Secrets" might be a sleeper hit. I emphasize might.
Even with all of this, I think they are as well positioned as they can be.
