CBS is still number one in overall viewers. Luckily for a certain Mr. Moonves, it's no longer the exclusive network of the early bird special crowd. "Survivor" changed that a few years ago and they're continually lowering the overall network demo. Case in point, "Threshold." While I don't think this will be around long, it's exactly the type of program CBS needs to lower its demo. The Tiffany net has two new comedies and four new dramas. "How I Met Your Mother" is one of the best new comedies of the fall and "Out of Practice" (with its great cast) is very funny. Of the dramas, I only think "Close to Home" is going to make any real impact. (CBS has a part interest in one of the new shows and whole interest in two.)
That being said, CBS is set up better than other net since they are strong on so many nights: Monday and Thursday are locks, with Tuesday more than likely winning. Wednesday should fare too poorly and they should hope I'm wrong about Friday.
While all nets except Fox ignoring Saturday, CBS does what they should do: use it as a showcase for other programming.
CBS will be the clear winner for the 2005-2006 season.
